Resource Introduction
How to use the resource
The resource seeks to develop knowledge, understanding and skills rather than fulfilling formal National Curriculum modules. I.e. the activities created for Places of Faith could be used at any Key Stage by any teacher to devise work appropriate for their particular pupils/students. It has been designed for teachers to use with the variety of technologies now available in the classroom such as White Boards. The possibilities of using the downloadable materials – videos, images, activity sheets, transcripts – are endless. Equally, it is possible to mix and match activities from the different units.
Expanding upon each pupil’s/student’s personal experience, the modules we have created and will create in the future use their local knowledge, starting with the most familiar and recognisable local buildings (i.e. their homes or Living Spaces, and Places of Faith) as the core, and then moving outwards into the places and spaces that form their community
We hope this tool will inspire teachers to explore their local environment together with their pupils/students and to work creatively within it.
Each module has up to six activities. Select an activity to access a range of resources that will help you explore six different contexts or places from different angles. The modules’ activity overview provides a brief description of the nature of the activities and suggests possible curriculum links.
